Protecting the Players.
For the game of baseball, the most touched and shared piece of equipment is the baseball itself. A typical game and practice may use up to 100 baseballs, this poses a significant problem for attaining disinfection and protection standards for all players.
Using liquid disinfectants, wipes and sprays are effective for disinfecting players hands, as well as the balls, but are expensive and impractical during game play.
BREAKTHROUGHDEVELOPMENT
Game Shield has developed a safe and effective method of continuously disinfecting baseballs and players hands during game play by using a dry, powder-based disinfectant in a reusable rosin bag.
The powder is a proprietary disinfectant mixture which is safe for contact and is effective for killing Bacteria, Fungus, and Viruses.
USE IN PRACTICE AND GAMEPLAY
The Game Shield method of disinfection would consist of players using the disinfecting bag with their hands immediately after contact with the baseball, and throughout the game.
The bag is small enough that it can be carried in the players back pocket and not interfere with the pace of game play. A pitcher can leave his disinfection bag on the mound much like a standard rosin bag. Pitchers will be required to utilize the disinfection bag routinely and this will be the primary source of contact
with the baseballs during game play.
KNOCK BACTERIA AND VIRUSES OUT OF THE PARK
Viruses are dependent on moisture to survive and have limited ability to survive on hard dry surfaces. By having a dry/disinfecting powder readily available and easy to access, the players exposure to such viruses are significantly reduced through ball contact during the game.
ACTIVE DISINFECTION
The proprietary active disinfecting ingredient in the Game Shield disinfection bag attacks the virus in two ways: by adhering to the moisture which the virus thrives in, and actively killing the virus. The active ingredient is effective at killing a broad range of harmful pathogens. It contains no phosphorous, is pH neutral, non-corrosive and safe to handle.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Players will still need to practice safe distancing and standard sanitation practices before during and after game play.
Like many other disinfectants, Lysol, Bleach, and alcohol, we caution against contact with mouth and eyes.
